Alan McGee is a Scottish businessman and music industry executive. He was a record label owner, musician, manager and music blogger for The Guardian. He co-founded the independent label Creation Records, which ran the label from 1983 until it closed in 1999. He then founded Poptones, which ran the label from 1999 to 2007. He directed or defended plays such as The Jesus and Mary Chain, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, Oasis and The Libertines. He is also the singer and guitarist of the indie pop group Biff Bang Pow!, Active from 1983 to 1991 .
